You’ve been invited to sing at L’Intérieur.
This page is your preparation. Not a checklist. A way of arriving before you arrive.
L’Intérieur is not a performance. It is not an open mic. It is not a showcase.
It is a held room. A space between the private rehearsal and the public stage, where a singer can bring one song, be seen, and be heard without critique, without recording, without encore.
The audience is not there to evaluate. They are there to hold the listening. Your work is not to impress. Your work is to arrive, anchor in the room, and offer what is alive for you through song.
One song. Any language, any style.
Choose something that matters to you, not what you think will land well, not your most technically accomplished piece, but a song you have a relationship with. Something you want to be in the room with.
You may sing unaccompanied, bring a musician to accompany you, or use a backing track. All are equally welcomed.
Please confirm your song choice and any accompaniment arrangements by 1 September, well ahead of the gathering. This gives us time to shape the arc of the evening and prepare the room for what’s coming.
Know your song well enough that you can be present while singing it. This doesn’t mean perfection, it means you are not fighting the material. You are free inside it.
Warm up before you come. The evening begins with an anchoring, but there is no group vocal warm-up. Arrive with your voice ready.

If nerves arise, know that this room was made for that. You are not performing for people. You are singing with people in the room. The difference is real, and you will feel it.
We will reach out to each of you individually in the weeks ahead to answer questions, talk through your song, and make sure you feel oriented well before the day.
On the day itself, Asiya and Marielle will be at Floky la loutre from 15h00 for sound checks and any final preparation. This time is yours. Come, settle into the room, find your feet in the space, and ask whatever you need to ask.
In the evening, arrive by 19h. Doors close ten minutes before the first voice. You will be seated with the audience until your moment comes. When it is your turn, you move to the center of the room, take whatever time you need to ground, and begin. When your song ends, you return.
There is no applause protocol. The room will find its own way to receive you.
The order of singers is set by Asiya and Marielle in advance. You’ll know your place in the arc before the evening begins. The evening closes with a naming. A brief, shared moment of recognition. Then the room rests.
